About the Music Academy

The IUPUI Music Academy, an independently operated community music school, under the auspices of the Indiana University School of Music at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), began in August of 1996 as an outreach program for the communities surrounding the IUPUI campus.

The Academy currently enrolls over 300 students from all corners of Indianapolis at two main locations, as well as area preschools and public elementary schools. The Academy offers a variety of keyboard-oriented preschool and general music classes with computer-assisted instruction to children ages 3-12. Other classes and workshops offered include adult jazz piano, Music Fundamentals (theory) and M.I.D.I. for Beginners. Private lessons are available for all ages and levels of ability in keyboard, voice, violin, guitar, and woodwinds.
